Art Class with Gretchen Goetz - Collage on Glass

 —  —

Acoustic Kitchen Studio, 3198 Royal Lane Suite 104, Dallas, TX

Rachel's sister, local artist Gretchen Goetz, will be teaching one of her fun art classes where you will leave with something you actually will want to keep!  Please visit The Gretchen Show to read about Gretchen and to purchase tickets for this event.

Class Fee $45  BYOB!  Class size is limited, so book early!

Here is Gretchen's description of this class:

Join us as we explore the collage art form. I am especially fond of collage on glass dishes because it is beautiful AND functional. Your cut and torn paper pieces will be applied from the back so the top of the dish can be used as you would any other: use it for tempting appetizers, petit fours or tea sandwiches or use it on a tabletop as a catchall for jewelry or other small items.

All supplies will be provided, including glass dish and an array of decorative and handmade papers, music sheets, book pages, and other ephemera. I will have plenty of colors and styles to choose from. You are also welcome to bring any personal paper items you’d like to include; however, if it is a photo of particular sentimental value, I recommend bringing one or two color copies of it instead of the actual photograph. The backs of the dishes will be sealed with a dishwasher safe sealant.

Adler & Hearne

Acoustic Kitchen Studio, 3198 Royal Lane Suite 104, Dallas, TX

From Texas' upper east side, award-winning singer-songwriters Lynn Adler and Lindy Hearne connect with audiences coast to coast. Their music is a signature blend of original folk, jazz and blues with deep Texas roots. With 12+ recordings and decades of touring between them, their repertoire is playful, poignant and poetic – including sparky love ballads, historically based tributes, children’s music, quirky story songs, modern-day spirituals, and anthems of justice and peace. Raised by musical families and nurtured by choirs through college, the two met in Nashville, and now pay it forward together in performances from listening-room venues, festivals and community events to churches, libraries and schools. Lynn co-wrote the theme song for the hit PBS children’s TV series "Wishbone." Her diverse writing background brings added experience to the duo's workshops and presentations. Lindy sang in the famed Texas Boys Choir as a child, and for several years he and his band were Roy Clark’s backup group performing with Roy from Las Vegas to Hee Haw to Carnegie Hall. How to describe Adler & Hearne's music and vibe? Think 'song circle' between Johnny and June Cash, Antonio Carlos Jobim and Astrud Gilberto, and Gordon Lightfoot and Joni Mitchell.

Rene Moffatt

Acoustic Kitchen Studio, 3198 Royal Lane Suite 104, Dallas, TX

René Moffatt is a Denver-based singer-songwriter who’s infatuation with writing timeless melodies has gotten him into deep trouble with all his muses. After years of honing his craft in Washington, D.C. and Dallas, TX, this forever burgeoning songster has settled into the foothills of the Front Range where he is hell-bent on carving out his own place in the Colorado music landscape. A lifelong supporter of local music, René co-founded a local music initiative while living in Washington, D.C. and serves on the Denver Arts & Venues’ Music Advisory Panel.

“At some point I recognized that we experience everything for a reason: empathy. To me, songwriting is an opportunity for collective empathy. A well written song compels the listener, the audience, to identify himself with what the singer is singing about. It might be a poignant paean to lost love or a hook driven melody. Either way all that is required is for one listener to connect and the moment is seized. These are the moments that I live for as a songwriter. I’m not just writing for myself, nor for anybody else, but for that which lies in between.”

About Acoustic Kitchen

Acoustic Kitchen is a unique and intimate venue operated by Milo, Rachel & Scarlett Deering, longtime members of the Dallas music scene.

The recording studio was built by the legendary Charley Pride, who still offices in the same building. It retains the warm, retro decor of the early Eighties when the studio was built. It can accommodate 50-60 guests and the concerts are BYOB, so feel free to bring beer or wine and your own glass. (We try to be as eco-friendly as possible)

The studio is located in the office building at the southwest corner of Webb Chapel and Royal Lane. There is a separate side entrance to the studio on the far west side of the building.  Park on the north side of the building and walk west to end of building and you will see the entrance on the left.  You CANNOT access the studio from the main entrance to the building.

The closest Dart Train location is the Royal Lane Station
